Additional Arizona Medical Board Licensing Information:
The Arizona Medical Board has a streamlined, quick process. The Board verifies the NPDB-HIPDB, FSMB Board Action, and AMA Profile directly. Verifications can be faxed to the Board instead of being required to be mailed. This helps expedite the process. The Arizona Medical Board has a low Mail Loss Rate (MLR). Faxes and mail are rarely lost and as such reduces the delays cause by re-requesting required primary source items. The applications typically are approved internally and do not require a State Medical Board meeting to issue the license. Physicians with Malpractice Judgements and Settlements can experience significant delays. The Arizona Medical Board requires that the Patient's Medical File and Xrays be forwarded to the Medical Board by the Facility / Care Center. This can be a significant problem due to HIPAA and Privacy Concerns. Arizona doesn't care. They are not going to move the application forward until the File and Xrays are received. Physicians with Disciplinary Actions or Significant Negatives (Arrests/etc.) need to speak with the Medical Board in advance of filing the application. Arizona will not accept an application in many cases where such actions are in a Physician's background.
