With the
Louisiana Medical Board, MedLicense.com is averaging 3
to 6 months for the issuance of a Louisiana Medical License from the submission of the
application to the Medical Board to the issuance of the Physician Louisiana
Medical License. Our firm has licensed Physicians in
Louisiana since April 2000. In an average year, MedLicense.com will handle
between 30 to 50 Louisiana License Applications. We understand the process
and what needs to be completed to have your application finalized.
Your involvement in the process is kept to a minimum,
with MedLicense.com handling the vast majority of the process. The fee for
our services is a one time payment of $549 (if you are practicing) or $459
(if you are in training) per State Process. Our packet is shipped to you
after a 5-10 min consultation. Sign, notarize, and proof your application
packet and then return it to MedLicense.com with the requested copies,
photos, and addendums. Then MedLicense.com will forward the completed packet
to the Louisiana Medical Board. Then the certification process begins along
with the required follow up with the third parties and Louisiana Medical
Board. Within 3 to 6 months of the submission, the license will typically be
issued. All that you have to do is start the process with MedLicense.com.

Licensure Requirements for the Louisiana Medical Board:
Louisiana Medical
Board
Louisiana has now mandated
the use of FCVS for all applications.
* Unfortunately FCVS is the determining factor for the
timeline with Louisiana. Since April 2011, FCVS has extended the time it takes
to complete a packet from 2-3 months to 4- 6 months. As such, the license
in Louisiana cannot be issued until they receive the Packet from FCVS. If
you have a packet in place before you apply, FCVS is still taking 3 to 5 months
to submit the completed packet. Since the first of the year, we have noticed
that a large number of our Established FCVS Doctors are having to have their
Medical School and Training Hospitals re-verified by FCVS. Each physician is
given a different reason as to why this is required but it is causing some
significant delays to their licensure process.
All Applicants:
| 1- FCVS |
| 2 -All State Physician Licenses |
| 3 -2 Physician Reference Letters |
| 4- Mandatory Board Interview |
| 5- Fingerprint Cards / Background Check |
| 6- Medical Society certification |
| 7- Board Certification certification |
| 8- AMA Profile |

| Educational, Examination, and Training
History Requirements: |
| |
| - 1 year PGT Domestic Graduates |
| - 3 years PGT International Graduates |
| - USMLE step 3 has to be passed in 4 attempts |
| - USMLE does not have a time restriction |
| - SPEX required if Board Certification is
over 10 years old or if last National Examination was 10 +
Years from date of application. |
| |
| Louisiana mandated the FCVS process one year
after Hurricane Katrina. Licensure time with Louisiana
averaged 2 to 3 months before the mandating of FCVS. Now
licensure times vary between 3 to 12 months because of the
FCVS requirement. |
Louisiana offers a Telemedicine License but it is not
extended to many specialties (i.e. Pathology). The Telemedicine License does not
grant a waiver to their SPEX Requirements. Most State Medical Boards which offer
a Telemedicine License do so for the reason of allowing Experienced Physicians
who have been practicing 20+ years to be able to practice without taking the
SPEX Examination. Unfortunately Louisiana does not have this same philosophy.
Their Telemedicine License is more concerned with the regulation of Interstate
Medicine than to grant waivers to experienced physicians to the SPEX
examination.
