Maine Board of Medicine - MD Board

Verification Requirements:

All Applicants:

1 - FCVS Packet

2 - State License Verifications

3 - Privilege Verifications (Handled by Maine Board)

4 - Maine Medical Examination

International Applicants:

5 - ECFMG Certificate or Board Certification

6 - United Kingdom License Verification (if applicable)

7 - Verification of PGT's in UK (if applicable)

Educational, Training, and Examination History Requirements:

- 2 years of PGT if USA/Canada Medical School Graduate

- 3 years of PGT if International Medical School Graduate

- Must pass all 3 steps of USMLE in 7 years

- Must pass Step 3 of USMLE in 3 attempts

- If licensing as a UK Physician:

- ECFMG Certificate or ABMS Board Certification Required

Maine does offer a temporary license to those physicians who will request it. It is not listed with their application. To obtain it the applicant must attach a note/letter to the application requesting one. The temporary is good for 6 months while the full license is being considered
