Puerto Rico Trained / Licensed Physicians
As of November 2007 there are 2 State Medical
Boards which will accept
applications from Physicians who
are licensed in Puerto Rico and
have taken the Puerto Rico State
License Examination. These are the
Washington Medical Board (State),
Indiana Medical Board, and Nevada Medical Board.
The requirements of each are listed below:
Washington Medical Board (State):
Currently pending a ruling. (06/13/2008).
Indiana Medical Board (06/24/2007):
MedLicense.com had a conversation with the Indiana Medical
Board. The staff member clarified their rules concerning Physicians who took the
Puerto Rico Medical Board Examination. We were informed that Indiana will review
each application from Physicians who took the Puerto Rico Medical Examination.
If the physician is a foreign medical graduate, ECFMG Certification is required.
We were told that Virginia reviews each application on a "Case by Case" Basis.
In the event that the Board decides to consider the application, a Board
Interview might be required.
