Information Concerning the Washington Medical
Board
The Washington
Medical Board's process is in the middle of the road when it comes to
difficulty. The MQAC has the typical requirements for Domestic and Foreign
Graduates. A temporary license is offered to those physicians who do not have
any negative issues in their background. (Malpractice Excluded) The process with the
Washington Medical Board can go very quickly and smoothly if the Board is not
backlogged. Our typically time line for a Washington Medical License to be
issued runs around 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 months for Domestic Graduates and 2 1/2 to 4
1/2 months for International Graduates. The Medical School Transcripts are
typically the determining factor for most International Physicians.
The Washington
Medical Board is unique in its' allowance of Puerto Rico Licensed
Physicians to apply using their Puerto Rico Medical Board Scores in the place of
the USMLE, FLEX, or NBME. In order that the Physician may qualify for this
waiver, the Puerto Rico State Medical Examination has to have been taken before
10/1994. The Washington Medical Board does require that all
foreign trained Physicians have a valid ECFMG Certificate. This includes any
Foreign Trained Physicians who took Puerto Rico Medical Board Examination.
