Update: 07/2007 - South Carolina has now mandated the use of FCVS for all Physicians

The South Carolina Medical Board's licensing process is not typical of the process for the majority of other medical boards. South Carolina now requires the set up of the FCVS packet. This will take 2 to 9 months, typically. The South Carolina Medical License process has a few unique requirements which separate this medical board from the others. First and foremost the South Carolina Medical Board requires that the Physician have taken and passed a National Board Examination or ABMS Certification Examination within the past 10 years. If the Doctor has not taken the required examination then the South Carolina Medical Board will require the Physician to pass the SPEX examination.
