Washington Medical Board / Medical Quality
Assurance Commission
– MD Board
The Washington
Medical Board's process is in the middle of the road when it comes to
difficulty. The MQAC has the typical requirements for Domestic and Foreign
Graduates. A temporary license is offered to those physicians who do not have
any malpractice or negative issues in their background. The process with the
Washington Medical Board can go very quickly and smoothly if the Board doesn't
loose the Physicians' Transcripts. For what ever reason, the Washington
Medical Board has an extremely difficult time of processing
transcripts through their mail room. This is especially true for Physician's
with issues in their past or who are foreign trained. One one Physician who had
multiple negatives, the Washington Board lost his transcripts no less then 6
times. This was the last item which remained in order that his file would be
completed. The transcripts were sent to the Washington Medical Board 3 times by
Fedex by the Medical School and the first two attempts could not be found even
through a signature proof was provided by Fedex from the Washington
Medical Board. Because of this we recommend that the transcripts be
sent from the Medical School to the Medical Board by Registered, Signature
Required Mail or Courier.
The Washington
Medical Board is unique in its' allowance of Puerto Rico Licensed
Physicians to apply using their Puerto Rico Medical Board Scores in the place of
the USMLE, FLEX, or NBME. The Washington Medical Board does require that all
foreign trained Physicians have a valid ECFMG Certificate. This includes any
Foreign Trained Physicians who took Puerto Rico Medical Board Examination.
